Odin #6

20 people, and this one was a bit closer than I'd like but I know I was way off of my A-game and we lost a few DDs because I wasn't doing my best at all, but we did get a win and a nice drop pool.

Congratulations to:
Saevel on the Wyrmal Body
Shadowmeld on the Phantasmal Legs
Ciecle on the Hofud
Arcturuss on the Neptunal Head
Furionstormrage on the Earthen Body
I totally lotted a 989 on that thing, I guess I really wanted it, and as psyched as I am to get one, a part of me still wishes that everyone else who was lotting the Ebody had beaten my lot. I like gear and all, but the fun for me is in being able to play with some really awesome people.

Dynamis-Tavnazia Interlopers
Dec. 24th, 2009 | 01:51 am

Well that was fun as hell.
Did a Tavnazia during our break, since a bunch of us wanted the win for completions sake. (And because it's cool)
The drops were less than stellar, we did get Valor Breeches for Mitsukai and Scouts Jerkin for Arcturuss, but other than those we had a dropped DRK body and 3 dropped BLU heads.
None of that matters though, Diablos was a really fun, intense fight, and we the 18 that were able to come now have a pretty awesome title!

Congratulations to:
Shadowmeld: Shadow Feet
Calicokitty: Zenith Feet
Falonetalstar: Koenig Cuirass
Belzedar: Valhalla Breastplate
Jaydog: Adaman Hauberk
We've done other stuff, but I'm lazy and forget to post on Livejournal.
We did a few Kirins last night, started straight tanking it which really speeds up the old "kite and SC+MB" method, it was fun.
Congratulations to:
Itege: N Body
Leonidus and Quipto: Kirins Osode
Saevel: W Legs
We also got some Poles for people, and about 1.2m to the bank.
We had a really lame Tavnazia. It went well from our end, cleared all TEs and farmed a bunch of Xarc mobs.
Of course, the only thing that dropped were 2 BLU and 2 COR from Glacier mobs while we were getting a TE, both freelot/floored, and a Hydra Salade to Ankalym from the Xarc mobs.
With my new job, I haven't managed to maintain very good attendance on my part. Luckily my sackholders are awesome and are picking up my slack for me, for which I owe them greatly.
For that reason, I don't have droplists beyond this week in front of me, but we've gotten several Homam Pieces, a Love Torque, 3 Novios and 2 Novias, a few Byakkos Haidates, Erised got his RDM Hat, and I picked up a Warrior's Stone a few weeks ago.
Personal accomplishments, not much to speak of. I got RDM to 70, finished Nyzul 100 climb and am tearing things up with Atonement, and started working on SCH for a subjob. I also got about halfway through ASA, I'll pick that back up next week hopefully.

Odin #5
Oct. 30th, 2009 | 12:43 am
We had a record 30 people entering the zone this time, and a lot of them being first timers to Odin, but they did a great job.
We took him down with almost 10 minutes remaining, again using very minimal ranged damage (1 RNG, 1 COR, 2 SMNs). Most of our damage was from melee DDs, as it has been on all but our first Odin.
Congrats to:
Sonusfaber on Hadean: Head
Sactown on Earthen: Hands
Thunderhawk on both Martial: Body and Phantasmal: Body
Mitsukai on Valhalla Helm, making him 2/2 on Valhalla Gear
Pics of said people with said gear to come.

Thank you for the Mask Sanjurio, that was insanely nice of you.
Regular update to come, sometime, possibly before the new year.

Odin #3, end of an era, misc. ramblings, RDM solo
Sep. 28th, 2009 | 06:12 pm
I have a new job, that's finally settled down. For a few weeks I was only able to make 1-2 events a week, so I'd like to really thank the sackholders for keeping everything rolling and working their butts off to keep events going and profitable. (From a money and gear standpoint)
Unfortunately this has prevented me from attending any Salvage runs, a situation that I hope to remedy if at all possible, I owe those guys and girls big time for what they've helped me with so far, and I really enjoy Salvage.
We suffered a couple of unfortunate losses in Dynamis-Valkurm, a boss that we usually wreck, but we came back with a new strategy and had no problems killing him last week. Drops were decent, including our first WHM Belt, which Quipto had been waiting on forever.
Not only that, but the boss dropped the elusive 4-100 pieces. This will be a nice payout for everyone, which is great since we stick to COP/Tav for Dynamis, provide all the meds for zergs and Einherjar, and don't do Sky often at all (or anything else that makes much gil), so payouts are pretty rare for us.
Our third Odin went well, except that at 9% Belzedar and I both 2-houred, /healed, and Odin cast Breakga, causing us to stand up, then immediately dropped us with his death move. It was a little shaky for a minute, he killed quite a few melee and we had a 9% Fomor pop that go out of hand, but we managed the win.
Drops were:
Neptunal Head: Jaydog
Wyrmal Body: Anaxagoras
Hadean Body: Erised
Phantasmal Feet: Arximiro
Valhalla Breastplate: Mitsukai
I've been partaking in a late-night Saturday Nyzul static, which was a spin-off of my friend Kikyo's Assault LS. The group is 1/2 EM members and 1/2 Utopia, and we've managed to do fairly well. It's amazing to see ourselves get more efficient and better as time goes by and we learn the teamwork required to excel. As of this writing we are at floor 90, hoping to hit 100 and start farming this Saturday. Drops on the way up, not including weapons, are Askar Feet to Iamvictor and Denali body to Kikyo.
Personally, I'm mainly in it, besides something fun to do, for the weaponskills. I would like to pickup Askar feet for a PDT/Terror build, and Askar Helm for situations where it beats Walhara Turban. I'd also like a few Goliard pieces, but I won't be lotting those until my RDM is 75, I'm not going to lot gear over people that can put it to immediate use.
That brings me to RDM, a job that I want 75 but haven't had time to touch in a long time. I managed to get 67 trioing FoV with Saevels SCH and Aroths SAM, and then picked up 68 entirely doing FoV in Ro'Maeve and XP scrolls. Beyond that, Meia mentioned duoing Hmpemde in Sea with her SCH (She's 65) so we take a free afternoon and did that for a few hours. After that I have spent an hour or so doing it solo, and although the XP/hr is low since I'm a RDM and not that great at nuking, it is providing me with some much-needed magic skillups. (Damn Level Sync has kept my skills gimped). It's also nice to do something other than Refresh, Haste, Haste, Dia 2, Haste, Slow, Refresh, Haste, Haste, Dia 2, Haste, Slow over and over for hours on end.
I recently polled the LS members to see what they want out of FFXI, and beyond having a good source of info on what drops to target more, it came out that most of us want to kill Vrtrra and Jorumungand, just for the experience of doing it. That excited me, because I love doing something "new" (Meaning new to me). I'm going to plan to do these as soon as we're done with our Ouryu/Bv2/Sea round, which hopefully won't take but another couple of weeks. (Tons of backed up Orbs and Jailer pop items makes for a LONG round of this).
Here's a pic by Mitsukai, right after another Dynamis-Tavnazia that gave us pretty "meh" drops, but did net him Hydra Legs. We are Team Hydra!

Half-week update
Aug. 19th, 2009 | 01:55 am
Monday we did Omega, which netted us Hands (Greatguardian) and Head (Meia).
Doesn't hold a candle to last weeks 2 Legs + Body but at least it wasn't 2 heads.
Tuesday we did our 2 Tyger pops, which was fun as hell.
He was extremely fun to tank, although my pop only dropped Aurum Armet (Calicokitty) and the PW /Mythic pop item (I took it for a maybe-one-day PW attempt). Luckily Belzedar got an Aurum Cuirass and Antares from his, and everyone seemed to really enjoy the fight.
This cropped pic is pretty bad, but I didn't get any of the one I tanked.

Good week
Aug. 15th, 2009 | 01:25 pm
I've taken a new job, due to the guy that I used to work for deciding to close down his business and go to work closer to his home (He lives in Virginia, got tired of driving 4 hours every day). The downside is that now I'm working a lot of early mornings, so some of my late-night activities have to be put off or rescheduled (Namely, the Nyzul static, ANNMs, ENMs, and I'll have to miss a few Salvage runs).
It's unfortunate, but everyone has been very understanding. I hate to let them down so I'm glad they know it's beyond my control at the moment.
Anyway, on to the fun stuff.
Monday we used a Omega set, and boy did Omega finally reward us. We got the coveted 2 Legs + Body drop, and enough chips to finish the Omega partial set I was holding.
Homam Body went to Arximiro, making him 5/5 ^^
Homam Legs went to Sactown and myself, both of us have been waiting quite some time so I'm really happy about the drop pool.
Tuesday we used 4 or 5 Sarameya pop sets, I can't remember exactly since I came PLD/RDM to hold Sarameya in case our planned zerg ddin't work, but it worked perfectly and I was completely worthless the entire night, which in this instance I consider a very good thing.
Mitsukai got Hachiryu Legs on his pop, which I'm really excited about. Beyond that we got a couple of Oracle's Hats, a couple of Foolkillers, A Pachipappo (sp), and a couple of Aurum Armets, one of which I got on free lot. I'm really happy about that, as it means I can stop camping Biast (0/5) and use this for my upcoming OClub DRK.
We swapped our Dynamis day to Wednesday because we've been constantly locked out of Xarcabard, and we were able to enter without a problem. The run was decent, in that we cleared more pulls than normal during the NMs, but we had some crowd control problems that I'll need to address. Unfortunately, drops were "less than stellar", we only ended up with BRD (Trog), WAR (Aroth), DNC (Greenjade), BLM (Jrspoon). I'm happy about the BLM and DNC, but the other 2 went free lot and 4 drops in an entire run is pretty depressing.
Thursday was an Einherjar Tier 1, following our Odin last week. We had a large group of Dark Elementals and the Morbol boss. The Elementals took forever to kill, but we still won with plenty of time left.
After that, I finally managed to go to Salvage, only to lose power near the end of the run, before the boss. I was so upset, I hadn't managed to make a run all last week or this Monday, so I was really happy to finally be there helpng the guys and gals that help me so much. Nothing I could do about it, living out in the sticks I tend to lose power or cable more than I'd like, but annoying at any rate.
Friday, I guess someone somewhere felt bad about my power loss, and our AR run really put out. We had a few people that couldn't make it so we decided to just farm NMs and not do the boss. (We usually farm most of the NMs and Boss but farmed allt he NMs you can on one run this time). The Chariot, Bhoot, and 2 upper Qiqirin didn't drop, but the first 2 Qiqirin both gave up the goods!!

Eltreille got the Deimos's Cuirass, pretty sure she needs the 25 and maybe the 15, not to mention the gil since she just finished full Morrigans along with a few Marduk pieces, but we can make gil.
Jay and I were supposed to lot the Macha's Coat, and I had long ago decided to pass any Morrigans gear until my RDM was 75, but Jay had no idea that our Macha's Coat list was so short and had passed as soon as it dropped. When we were called, I tried to get him to logout or drop PT and get back in to lot it, but he insisted that I just take this one. I hate that he didn't get it, but we'll make sure to get him one as long as the Salvage Gods continue to bless us with good luck.
Now I gotta figure out where the hell I'm gonna come up with 12 Imperial Wootz Ingots, again.

Odin #2
Aug. 7th, 2009 | 12:53 am
Won the fight with ~5 minutes remaining.
Pics and Details to come tomorrow, but I'm glad that he was honestly pretty easy with our setup and only 19 people.
At times like this, I love my LS and remember why I'm here.
